Cory Kalanick – Treasurer

Cory Kalanick hails from Big Sky Country in Montana, but has made Denver home since 2011 when he and his wife Kate both finished law school at the University of Minnesota. He is happy to be back in the mountains, and even more thrilled about reconnecting with Western politics.

As a loyal Democrat since his early high school years, Cory started working as a phone bank coordinator for the Montana Democratic Party. While studying political science and history, he served as president of the Boston University College Democrats, where he assisted in organizing door-knocking trips to New Hampshire, orchestrating the university’s largest voter registration effort, hosting a number of presidential candidates, and even debated live on Fox News. After interning for a back-bench Member of Parliament in the British House of Commons, he graduated from BU in 2007 and returned to Montana to help elect progressive leaders before heading to law school.

Cory has had the opportunity to work on a number of political races in the area of campaign finance, including John Kerry’s presidential campaign, Jon Tester’s U.S. Senate race, and a congressional race in Montana, where he set a fundraising record in the state as the campaign’s finance director.

As an attorney, Cory practices public finance, local government and business law at a law firm downtown. He enjoys fly fishing, hiking and backpacking the Rockies, home brewing, traveling and exploring Denver’s extraordinary culture and cuisine in his spare time.
