While originally from New Jersey Jillian Coffey has been happy to call Colorado home for the past 5 years and plans on spending many more years in the Rocky Mountains. She lives in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Denver and enjoys spending her time seeing live music, hanging out in Cheeseman Park and eating the occasional Rosenberg bagel.
Ms. Coffey started her career in activism and civic engagement working as a field organizer for New Era Colorado, where she conducted work to expand voting rights and participation in Northern Colorado. After her time on the campaign trail she moved on to work for Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains where she served as their field organizing specialist; managing their statewide civic engagement program for two years. Ms. Coffey has experience working with tough issues both in the field and under the dome, where she coordinated a large-scale coalition effort bringing a wide range of activists to the capitol on a weekly basis during both the 2015 and 2016 legislative sessions. Now working at Siegel Public Affairs, a progressive lobbying firm; Jillian has had the opportunity to gain a full 360-degree view of the legislative and political landscape of the Colorado Democratic Party. She is looking forward to bringing her organizing experience coupled with her understanding of Colorado Democrats to bring more communities and individuals into the Young Democrats through activism, education and extensive outreach.
Ms. Coffey has a BA in International Politics and Nonprofit Management from James Madison University in Virginia.
